Happy New Year!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday, January 2 for New Years. The Center will start a new year of activities on Tuesday, January 3. Many fun activities are offered for seniors 50 and older. Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a January calendar of events.

Monday, January 2 – Center is closed.

Tuesday, January 3 – Start your New Year’s resolution to get in better shape with the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that meets every Tuesday and Thursday of the week at 9:30 a.m. This class is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by your chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, January 4 – Women’s pool time is a lively activity that gets under way at 9:30 a.m. The women enjoy the friendly competition at the tables. Wii interactive games and ping pong are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, pool, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The movie, “Seven days in Utopia”, will be shown at 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 5 – Come stretch out those stiff muscles with the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that meets again at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. This is an interactive game system that challenges and can help improve your balance. At 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. where everyone is a winner. Thursday evenings the Center’s doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. for Music Night. The musicians tune up their instruments and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6:00 p.m.

Friday, January 6 – Friday morning activities consists of women’s pool and a painting class beginning at 9:30 a.m. There is exercise equipment, Wii games, and a ping pong table all available for use. In the afternoon, games include: canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, and a puzzle is out waiting for someone to find the missing pieces.

Last weeks winners of duplicate bridge were: Murna Raff and Betty Abenante, 1st; and Betty Lowrey, Donna Beason, Lionel Raff and Seham Hadi; all tied for 2nd. Social bridge winners for the week were: Lynn Fent, 1st, and Joanne Barrick, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners were: Gail Marrow and Betty Shields.

Burk, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Orlean Hunter, 1st; and Ina Lee Abels, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Murna Raff and Betty Abenante, 1st; and Betty Lowrey, Donna Beason, Lionel Raff and Seham Hadi; all tied for 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Maxine Morgan and Allen Shields. A men’s in-house pool tournament was held and Leon Brown was the champion.

December Birthday Lunch on Friday!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold the December pot-luck luncheon on Friday, December 9 at 12:00 noon. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person. A group from the Community Singers will be here to entertain with some carols. The Center offers many fun activities for seniors 50 and older. Eye Clinic This Week!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center has an eye clinic scheduled for Monday, November 21 at 1:30 p.m. Get your eyes checked free by Triad Eye Clinic, no appointment is needed. Women's In House Pool Tournament to be held

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will start the week off with a women’s in-house pool tournament Monday, November 14 at 9:30 a.m. Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. It is an interactive game system that can challenge and improve your balance. Then at 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. and Music Night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes.

Friday, November 18 – Join the women pool players or the painting class at 9:30 a.m. Also, exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

The winner of the Texas Holdem winner’s game of the month was: Shirley Crockett. Also, the Stillwater Senior Center pool players travelled to Ponca City Senior Center to play in a coed pool tournament. They were successful in bringing home the traveling trophy with a score of 22 to16.

Birthday Luncheon This Week

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will host a Medicare Part-D enrollment and review, Thursday, November 10 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Need to call Kristi at 1-800-375-8255, Ext. 128 to schedule your appointment. Also, bring you Medicare card and all current prescriptions. Then on Friday, November 11 at 12 noon the November pot-luck birthday luncheon will be held. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 8 – Come get toned up and work on your flexibility with the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that begins at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Monday, August 22 – The sound of pool balls cracking begins at 9:30 a.m. as the women practice their pool shooting skills. Oil painters also come in at that time and show off their creative skills. The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. and include rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes and much more.

Also, a painting group comes in with their canvases and supplies of choice ready to get creative. Stay Cool at the Senior Activity Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is the place to beat the summer heat and stay cool while playing various games of fun. Regular center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Also, a painting group comes in with their canvases and supplies of choice ready to get creative. Afternoon activities get going around 1:00 p.m. These activities include: bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool, pitch, and jig saw puzzle solving.
