Activities Galore

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers many activities to choose from all week long. Come check it out! Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a November calendar of events.

Monday, October 31 – Laughter rings out along with the clanking of the pool balls during women’s pool time starting at 9:30 a.m. Also, at the same time, oil painters get together and enjoy good conversations while getting creative on their canvases. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 1 – If you are in need of some exercise come join the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class at the Senior Center beginning at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, November 2 –Women’s pool time gets started again at 9:30 a.m. Wii interactive games are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The drama movie, “You Don’t Know Jack”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, November 3 – Get some beneficial stretching and toning of those muscles with the Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that starts at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. It is an interactive game system that can challenge and improve your balance. Then at 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. and Music Night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes.

Friday, November 4 – Senior Center pool players travel to Ponca City Senior Center Friday, for a coed pool tournament. They hope to keep the traveling trophy and bring it back home. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Norma Phillips, 1st and J.W. Thomas, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Janetta Loper, 1st; and Lynn Fent, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Betty Lowrey and Lorie Schlobahm, 1st; and Treca Baer and Norma Burk, Patricia Logan and Jerry Koelsch, all tied for 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Shirley Crockett and Sue Adams.
