Seasonal Luncheon Celebration at the Stillwater Senior Activity Center



City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a luncheon to celebrate the season. The celebration for Senior Center participants will occur on Friday, February 10 at 12 p.m. Homemade chili and corn bread is on the menu. Tickets for $2/person will be sold at the door. Come and enjoy the delicious food and friendly fellowshipping. The Center is a good place for seniors 50 and over to check out the many free activities offered such as; exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, card and bridge games, pool and snooker playing including tournaments, bingo, and a music night with country tunes. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings, 6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Please note that the free AARP income tax service has been moved from the Stillwater Senior Activity Center to the Stillwater Public Library. They will begin Monday, February 6 and run through Tuesday, April 18. The new hours are: Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is a first come first serve basis.
Monday, Feb. 6 – If you are interested in starting an exercise program, check out the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. You can test out your flexibility and muscle tone during the exercise routine. Chairs are set out for everyone to use for support. Also, women pool players get together for several rounds of fun and friendly 8-ball. After the exercise class, at 10:30 a.m., a line dancing class meets and kicks up their heels to some swinging country tunes. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m. with card games: canasta, social bridge, and pool/snooker.
Tuesday, Feb. 7 – For a more extensive workout, come try the free exercise/dance class, “Zumba with Angie”, every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. You will do some quick moving steps done mostly to Latin American music. Please wear good sturdy shoes for all the quick stepping. No slide on shoes allowed. In the afternoon, games include canasta, duplicate bridge, and pool/snooker. Most card games start around 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. New duplicate bridge players should call the Center ahead of time to make arrangements. Duplicate bridge is played with a partner. Exercise equipment that includes exercise bikes, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the afternoon. A pool tournament will be held starting at 1 p.m. Bring your pool stick or use one from the Center to enjoy your afternoon and some friendly competition. Bingo is played at 2 p.m. It’s a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out too, for all the puzzlers.
Wednesday, Feb. 8 – Wednesday mornings, Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class members and women pool players return at 9:30 a.m. for a fun time. After the exercise class at 10:30 a.m., line dancers start keeping time with the swinging tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta and other card games are played starting around 1 p.m. A puzzle is always out ready to be solved.
Thursday, Feb. 9 – Guitar lessons continue at the Center on Thursdays mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. Zumba dancers begin moving again to some jazzy tunes at 10:30 a.m. The afternoon brings out canasta and bridge players at 1 p.m. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2 p.m. The Center opens back up at 5:30 p.m. to get ready for Music Night. The musicians get their instruments tuned up and are ready to entertain the crowd with country tunes starting at 6 p.m. Come enjoy the music and snacks that participants bring to share. 
Friday, Feb. 10 – Friday morning activities include; the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, women’s pool playing, and a painting class all starting at 9:30 a.m. The artists bring in their art projects and supplies and share their ideas and skills with each other. Remember at 12:00 noon the chili luncheon will be held. The 10:30 a.m. line dancing class and 12:15 p.m. duplicate bridge will not take place due to the preparations for the luncheon. Come enjoy the delicious food! Canasta and card games will start at 2 p.m. The puzzle table is always waiting for someone to stop by and find a piece to the puzzle.

Birthday Celebration Held at Stillwater Senior Activity Center
