Ready for cooler weather at the Senior Activity Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center regular hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a September calendar of events.

Monday, October 3 –The morning starts out with oil painting, crafters and women’s pool at 9:30a. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1p.

Tuesday, October 4 – Join us at 9:30a for Sit’n Be Fit exercise class. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, October 5–The pool players get out their pool sticks and Wii interactive games are also available for participation. Games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, Mexican Train dominoes, and puzzle solving. The movie, “Meek’s Cutoff”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, October 6 –Start the morning out by stretching those muscles with our Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that starts at 9:30a. Then at 1p you can join in games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. and Music Night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes.

Friday, October 7 – Pool balls start rolling at 9:30a, while oil painters get creative. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use. Other games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Deloris Sanders, 1st and Norma Burk, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Murna Raff and Jerry Koelsch, 1st; and Lucy Robinson and Kay Bull, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Linda Jamison, 1st; and Lynn Fent, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winner for last week was: Lula Mae Davis.

Monday, September 19 –Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the activities today. Oil painting and Crafters class is now offered at the Stillwater Multi Arts Center at 9:30am.

Tuesday, September 20 –Activities at the Senior Center include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. Do you need to work on your flexibility and strength endurance? Sit ‘n Be Fit free exercise class that is now offered at the Community Center in room 121 and begins at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: J.W. Thomas, 1st and Wally Reynolds, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Treca Baer and Norma Burk, 1st; and Don Lorret and Patricia Logan, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Ina Lee Ables, 1st; and Norma Burk, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were; Bobbie Bryan and Richard Thompson. Richard Thompson won the Texas Hold’em winner’s game.

Monday, September 12 – Women’s pool gets underway at 9:30 a.m. along with oil painting class. The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. and include rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool, and much more.

Friday, September 16 – Popular cool activities for Friday morning are women’s pool and the painting class. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use, too. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners duplicate bridge winning partners were: Donna Beason and Charles Foreman, 1st ; and Don Lorett, Patricia Logan, Murna Raff, and Bernie Roesler all tied for 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Ina Lee Abels, 1st; and Norma Burk, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were; Richard Thompson and Bobbie Bryan.

Closed for Labor Day

Friday, September 9 – Popular cool activities for Friday morning are women’s pool and the painting class. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use, too. The September birthday pot-luck luncheon will be held at 12:00 noon. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person and enjoy the delicious feast. Also, a representative from Air Evac Lifeteam will be here at that time to speak about their services. Stay after lunch and participate in the afternoon games which include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.
