Lots of Activities to check out at Senior Activity Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is a fun place to check out all the activities available for seniors. Regular center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events.

Monday, August 29 – The women pool players get their pool sticks out starting at 9:30 a.m. Oil painters also come in at that time and show off their creative skills. The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. and include rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes and much more.

Tuesday, August 30 – The Sit ‘n Be Fit free exercise class begins at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, Aug. 31– Come join the fun at the Center. Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. Women’s pool and Wii interactive games are available. Games for the afternoon begin at 1:00 p.m. These include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, Mexican Train dominoes, and puzzle solving. The movie, “The Social Network” will be shown at 2pm.

You can join in afternoon games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Also, a men’s in-house pool tournament will begin at 1:00 p.m. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Music night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Barbara Geiser, 1st and Lew Taylor, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Treca Adams and Norma Burk, 1st and, Murna Raff and Jerry Koelsch, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: InaLee Abels, 1st; and Orlean Hunter and Jeanne Welch, tied for second. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were Don Lorett and Gail Morrow.

The oil painters will also be gathering and letting their creative juices flow. The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. and include rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes and much more.

Texas Hold’em Winners Game for last week was Bobbie Bryan and Texas Hold’em Wednesday and Friday winners were Don Lorett and Dollie McClary, respectively.
