Fun Activities at the senior center!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers many fun activities for seniors 50 and older. Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a November calendar of events.

Monday, November 28 – Activities get started at 9:30 a.m. with oil painting and women’s pool. The painters bring their supplies with them and have a good time together getting creative. The women pool players enjoy their friendly competition and socialization while taking aim at the cue ball. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, puzzle solving, snooker and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 29 – Work off those extra calories gained over the holiday with a free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class. This class is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, November 30 – The women pool players will surround the pool tables again beginning at 9:30 a.m. Come join the fun time and friendly fellowship they share. Wii interactive games and ping pong are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, pool, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The movie, “A Shine of Rainbows”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, December 1 – The Sit’n Be Fit exercise class meets again at 9:30 a.m. for a good stretching and toning workout. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. This is an interactive game system that challenges and can help improve your balance. At 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. where everyone is a winner. Thursday evenings the Center’s doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. for Music Night. The musicians tune up their instruments and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6:00 p.m.

Friday, December 2 – Women’s pool players and painting class participants get together again at 9:30 a.m. There is exercise equipment, Wii games, and a ping pong table all available for use. In the afternoon, games include: canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, and a puzzle is out waiting for someone to find the missing pieces.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Orlean Hunter, 1st and Barbara Geiser, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Lew Taylor, 1st; and Cloyann Fent and Pauline Poe, tied for 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Terry Miller and Camille Johnston,1st; and Charles Foreman and Bernie Roesler, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Dollie McClary and Chestine Crane.

Eye Clinic This Week!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center has an eye clinic scheduled for Monday, November 21 at 1:30 p.m. Get your eyes checked free by Triad Eye Clinic, no appointment is needed. Also, the Center will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: J.W. Thomas, 1st and Norma Burk, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Lew Taylor, 1st; and Shirley Crockett, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Terry Miller and Camille Johnston,1st; and Charles Foreman and Bernie Roesler, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Gail Marrow and Sue Adams. A women’s in-house pool tournament was held and congratulations goes to the winner, Sue Cook.

Women's In House Pool Tournament to be held

Monday, November 14 – The women pool players will ready their pool sticks for the competition of an in-house pool tournament, starting at 9:30 a.m. Come join the fun! Oil painters also get together and get their paints and brushes out for some creative time at their canvases. Duplicate bridge winners were: Charles Foreman and Bernie Roesler, 1st; Murna Raff and Betty Abenante, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Allen Shields and Sue Adams. The winner of the Texas Holdem winner’s game of the month was: Shirley Crockett. Also, the Stillwater Senior Center pool players travelled to Ponca City Senior Center to play in a coed pool tournament. They were successful in bringing home the traveling trophy with a score of 22 to16.

Birthday Luncheon This Week

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will host a Medicare Part-D enrollment and review, Thursday, November 10 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Need to call Kristi at 1-800-375-8255, Ext. 128 to schedule your appointment. Also, bring you Medicare card and all current prescriptions. Then on Friday, November 11 at 12 noon the November pot-luck birthday luncheon will be held. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.
