Check Out the Activities at the Stillwater Senior Activity Center



The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is an active and cool place to check out this summer. The Center welcomes all seniors, 50 and over. Activities include: card games, pool and snooker, bridge, exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, bingo, a painting/crafting class, and an evening of music with country tunes performed by several musicians. Exercise equipment that includes an exercise bike, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the afternoons. A water aerobics class continues to be offered to Senior Center participants, also. The swimming class is held Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stillwater Municipal swimming pool. It will run through August 3. Cost for the class is $2 per session and is paid at the pool. Also, a walking trail is located right outside by the Center, in Couch Park. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on the second and fourth Thursday during the summer, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Monday, July 10 – Come in and check out the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. This class provides a good workout to help tone your muscles. Some exercises are done while standing, but a chair is always there for support. Also, women pool players come in at 9:30 a.m. for some friendly competition in 8-ball games. Bring your pool stick or use one at the Center and join the fun. After the exercise class, a line dancing class is held. The boot scootin’ begins at 10:30 a.m. At 1 p.m. canasta, social bridge, pool, and snooker are played. If you like to do jig-saw puzzles, check out the puzzle table and test your puzzle skills.
Tuesday, July 11 – It is time to Zumba with Angie starting at 10:30 a.m. This is an exercise dance class that will get you moving to some jazzy music. Good sturdy shoes are required for all the quick stepping, no backless, slide on types are allowed. Remember water aerobics at 12:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Afternoon games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, and pool/snooker. Most cards games begin at 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. Two rounds of bingo are called at 2 p.m. It is a fun time and everybody wins a prize!
Wednesday, July 12 – Exercisers and women pool players arrive again at 9:30 a.m. ready to enjoy the activities. At 10:30 a.m., line dancers do some quick stepping to country tunes. In the afternoon, games of canasta and other card games are played starting around 1 p.m. along with pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out ready to be solved.
Thursday, July 13 – Free guitar lessons begin at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. Zumba dancers follow along with Angie as they work up a sweat moving to the Latin American music.  The afternoon brings out canasta and bridge players and pool players, at 1 p.m. Exciting games of bingo begin at 2 p.m. Music night will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Come enjoy the country music and the snacks brought by everyone that is shared around 7 p.m.
Friday, July 14 – Friday morning activities start at 9:30 a.m. and include; an energized Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, friendly women’s pool, and an artistic painting/crafting class. The artists bring in their art projects and supplies and share their ideas and instructional skills with each other. They would like to welcome new painters to the group. At 10:30 the line dancers get their feet moving in time to some swinging tunes. Afternoon brings out the card players. Duplicate bridge begins at 12:15 and the canasta players start around 1 p.m. The puzzle table is always waiting for someone to stop by and find a piece to the puzzle.
Last weeks reported social bridge winners were: Connie Mennem, 1st, and Cindy Smith and Sue McMillan both tied for 2nd.  Duplicate bridge winning partners for the previous week were: Carl Provence and Gay Lynn Bullock, 1st; and Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 2nd.  Last week, duplicate bridge winners were: Camille Johnston and Terry Miller, 1st; and Al Perry and Lionel Raff, 2nd.

Stillwater Senior Activity Center Will Close for Fourth of July Holiday

A water aerobics class continues to be offered to Senior Center participants, 50 and over. Birthday Celebration This Week at the Stillwater Senior Activity Center

No slide on shoes allowed. Remember, water aerobics at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon games include canasta, duplicate bridge, and pool/snooker. Most card games start around 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. New duplicate bridge players should call the Center ahead of time to make arrangements. Duplicate bridge is played with a partner. Exercise equipment that includes exercise bikes, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the afternoon. Pool and snooker playing are popular, also. Bingo is called at 2 p.m. It’s a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out, for the puzzlers.

Thursday, June 29 – Guitar strumming tunes can be heard coming from the free guitar lessons class at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. Zumba dancers begin moving to some jazzy tunes. The afternoon brings out canasta and bridge players and pool players, at 1 p.m. Bingo sometimes has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2 p.m. Music night is not held this week.

The afternoon brings out canasta and bridge players and pool players, at 1 p.m. Bingo sometimes has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2 p.m. Music night will be held this week. Doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. and the musicians strike up their instruments at 6 p.m. Snacks are brought in by the participants and shared with everyone. Come partake in good music and fellowship.
