The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center
will celebrate June birthdays with a pot-luck luncheon on Friday, June 12 at
12:00 noon. The entrée will be baked chicken sandwiches. Bring a food dish to
share or pay $3/person. Enjoy the many free activities that are offered for everyone
age 50 and over, such as: exercise class, painting and crafting class, line
dancing, Zumba exercise, bridge, canasta, bingo, guitar lessons, once a month movie
time, pool playing for men and women including coed pool tournaments, and a
music night. Free beginning line dancing lessons will be given for the month of
June only on Tuesdays, at 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Come learn a few fun dance
steps! Also, starting Tuesday, June 2, a
water aerobics class will begin at the Stillwater Public Municipal Pool. The
class will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 2 through July 30,
starting promptly at 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The charge is $2 per session and
is paid at the pool each time you come. The Center is open Monday through
Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music

Monday, June 1– Monday mornings you can
participate in a free exercise class called, Sit ‘n Be Fit. Hand weights,
stretching bands, and sponge balls are incorporated in to the stretching
exercises. Also, women’s pool is another fun activity to participate in along
with a painting/crafting class. Shoot some 8-ball or bring your painting
supplies and get creative. In the
afternoon, games of bridge and canasta are played and pool or snooker.
Tuesday, June 2 – The Center opens at 9:30
a.m. Beginning line dancing classes will
start at 9:30 a.m. and last until 10:15 a.m. There is no charge for the class,
so if you have been thinking about learning to line dance come join the class
on Tuesdays during the month of June only. At 10:30 a.m. you can get a really
good workout in the free Zumba class. This class is done to some high tempo
music and is bound to get your heart rate up. Afternoon games include; canasta,
duplicate bridge, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise equipment that includes
a treadmill, two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use during
the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a
prize!
Wednesday, June 3 – If you would like to get
an exercise workout for free, check out the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that
meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to 10:15
a.m. It is not all sitting exercises,
but a chair is always there for support. Or bring your pool stick and shoot
some 8-ball during women’s pool time, also at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m., after the exercise class, line
dancers start kicking up their heels to some swinging country tunes. During the
afternoon, games of canasta and other card games are played. The monthly movie
will be shown at 2:00 p.m. The movie scheduled is “Paddington”.
Thursday, June 4 – Thursday mornings at 9:30
a.m. free guitar lessons are given. Then another class that will really get you
moving is Zumba with Angie. It begins at 10:30 a.m. This is a fast paced exercise
class done to jazzy type music. Come check it out and work up a good sweat.
Afternoon games start around 1:00 p.m. Canasta is a popular game of choice. At
2:00 p.m. every Thursday a guest bingo caller arrives ready to give out prizes.
Join the fun! Don’t forget music night at 6:00 p.m. There is always good toe
tapping music to enjoy!
Friday,
June 5 – Morning activities include the free exercise class, women’s pool, and a
painting/crafting class. At 10:30 a.m.
country music can be heard playing as the line dancers move their feet in time
to the music. Afternoon games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool and
snooker. At 1:00 p.m. a coed pool tournament will be held. Bring your pool
stick and enjoy the fun competition!
Last weeks reported winners were: for
social bridge, Connie Mennen, first and Barbara Geiser, was second; and in
duplicate bridge; winning partners were; Al Perry and Lionel Raff, first; and Lucy
Robinson and Penny Sizemore, came in second. Winner of the weekly pool
tournament was Jack Ventris.
