Stillwater Senior Activity Center Closed for New Year’s Day



The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed Monday, January 1 for New Year’s Day. Regular hours for the Center resume on Tuesday, January 2 at 9:30 a.m. Start your new year off by checking out the Senior Center which offers many activities for persons, 50 and over, such as; card games, social and duplicate bridge, pool and snooker, exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, Bingo, a painting class, and an evening of music with country tunes performed by several musicians. Exercise equipment that includes an exercise bike, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the afternoons. Also, a walking trail is located right outside by the Center, in Couch Park. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on the second and fourth Thursday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events. Please note: music night is not scheduled for this week.

Tuesday, January 2 – The Center is back to regular hours. Come Zumba with Angie and work off the extra holiday calories in her exercise/dance class. Their routine is done to fast moving music. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Good sturdy shoes are required for all the quick stepping, no backless, slide on types are allowed. Afternoon games include; duplicate bridge, canasta and pool/snooker. Most cards games begin at 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. Two rounds of bingo are called at 2 p.m. It is a fun time and everybody wins a prize!
Wednesday, January 3 – Get in shape by joining up with the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Women pool players come in during the same time. They get exercise while circling the pool tables and cheering when the pool ball goes in the pocket. Then at 10:30 a.m., line dancers do some quick stepping to country tunes. Games of canasta and other card games are played starting around 1 p.m. along with pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out ready to be solved.
Thursday, January 4 – Guitar lessons continue on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. it is time to Zumba again. Class members move with Angie and work on their steps to the Latin American music. The afternoon brings out canasta, bridge and pool players, at 1 p.m. Exciting games of bingo begin at 2 p.m. Reminder: Music night is not held tonight.
Friday, January 5 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercisers, women pool players, and artists come in at 9:30 a.m. ready to enjoy the Center’s activities. The artists bring in their art supplies and share their ideas and skills with each other. The painting class time continues into the afternoon now to accommodate more artists and give their paint time to dry. At 10:30 a.m., line dancers start strolling across the floor keeping in step to the music. During the afternoon, duplicate bridge starts at 12:15 p.m., then canasta, pool and snooker playing begins around 1 p.m. The puzzle table is always waiting for someone to stop by and find a piece to the puzzle.
Last weeks reported duplicate bridge winners were: Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 1st; and Carl Provence and Betty Lowrey, 2nd place. Social bridge winners were Beverly Dale, 1st, and Wanda Harper, 2nd.   .

Social bridge winners were Norma Jean Shamblin, 1st and Beverly Dale, 2nd.  Winners for Friday’s duplicate bridge were: Lionel Raff and Al Perry, John and Sandy Boepple, all tied for 1st place.

Holiday Closings for the Stillwater Senior Activity Center

Stretchy bands and bouncing balls are utilized to test your flexibility and coordination. Women’s pool time begins at 9:30 a.m., also. They play several rounds of friendly 8-ball pool and always welcome new players to join them. After the exercise class, at 10:30 a.m. line dancers start boot scootin’ to country songs. They have a lot of fun, while getting some good exercise. At 1 p.m. canasta, social bridge, pool, and snooker are played. Also, you can check out the jig saw puzzle table and test your puzzle skills.

Music Night Held This Week at Stillwater Senior Activity Center



The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center participants can enjoy a night of country music this week. Music night will be held Thursday, December 14 starting at 6 p.m. Doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. so the musicians can get set up and tuned up. Come enjoy the music and singing. Also, you can bring a snack to put out on the counter to share with everyone. If you are 50 and over, the Center offers many activities to participate in, such as: card games, social and duplicate bridge, pool and snooker, exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, Bingo, a painting class, and an evening of music with country tunes performed by several musicians. Blood Pressure Checks at Stillwater Senior Activity Center



The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will have a representative from Humanity Hospice taking blood pressure checks from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6.
