Stillwater Senior Activity Center Closings for Holidays



The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will close Monday, December 25 for Christmas and also Friday, December 29 and Monday, January 1 for New Years. The Center offers many activities for persons, 50 and over, such as; card games, social and duplicate bridge, pool and snooker, exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, Bingo, a painting class, and an evening of music with country tunes performed by several musicians. Exercise equipment that includes an exercise bike, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the afternoons. Also, a walking trail is located right outside by the Center, in Couch Park. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on the second and fourth Thursday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events. Please note: music night will not be held this week due to the holidays.
Monday, December 25 – Center is closed, Merry Christmas everyone.
Tuesday, December 26 – The Center is back open and if you need to work off the extra holiday calories come try the Zumba with Angie exercise/dance class. Their routine is done to fast moving music. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Good sturdy shoes are required for all the quick stepping, no backless, slide on types are allowed. Afternoon games include; duplicate bridge, canasta and pool/snooker. Most cards games begin at 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. Two rounds of bingo are called at 2 p.m. It is a fun time and everybody wins a prize!
Wednesday, December 27 – More calories can be worked off in the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings starting after the doors open at 9:30 a.m. Women pool players come in during the same time. They get exercise while circling the pool tables and cheering when the pool ball goes in the pocket. Then at 10:30 a.m., line dancers do some quick stepping to country tunes. Games of canasta and other card games are played starting around 1 p.m. along with pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out ready to be solved.
Thursday, December 28 – Guitar lessons continue on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. it is time to Zumba again. Class members move with Angie and work on their steps to the Latin American music. The afternoon brings out canasta, bridge and pool players, at 1 p.m. Exciting games of bingo begin at 2 p.m.
Friday, December 29 – The Center is closed. Happy New Year!
Last weeks reported duplicate bridge winners were: Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 1st; and Adrienne Hyle, Meg Kletke, Carl Provence, and Betty Lowrey, all tied for 2nd place. Social bridge winners were Norma Jean Shamblin, 1st and Beverly Dale, 2nd.  Winners for Friday’s duplicate bridge were: Lionel Raff and Al Perry, John and Sandy Boepple, all tied for 1st place.
