Wii Bowling Tournament at the Senior Activity Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a Wii bowling tournament on Tuesday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. A sign-up sheet is out now and a registration form is available at the front desk that must be filled out to participate. Another Wii bowling tournament will also be held Thursday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. Sign up now! Also, on Wednesday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. a balance assessment clinic will be provided by HealthBack Home Health. Get your balance checked and receive tips on how to improve. The monthly pot-luck birthday luncheon will be celebrated on Friday, May 13 at 12:00 noon. Regular center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Senior, Mary Berry recently celebrated her 94th birthday at the City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center.

Monday, May 9 – Women’s pool time and a painting class begins at 9:30 a.m. The women have a great time with some friendly competition. The painters get creative with their choice of oil, acrylic, or water color paints. An exercise room is also available for seniors. Exercise equipment includes a treadmill, exercise bikes, and a weight machine. A ping pong table or the Wii game system is also ready for use. The afternoon fun begins at 1:00 p.m. with bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool, and puzzle solving.

Tuesday, May 10 – Come join a free exercise class called, Sit ‘n Be Fit. It takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute exercise workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. At 10:30 a.m. the Wii bowling tournament gets under way. Come join the fun! Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, May 11 – The women get out their pool sticks again at 9:30 a.m. Ping-pong or Wii interactive games are available. Activities for the afternoon begin at 1:00 p. m. These include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, Mexican Train dominoes, and puzzle solving. The comedy movie, “You Again”, will be shown at 2pm. Remember at 1:00 p.m. you can get a free balance check.

Thursday, May 12 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class at 9:30 a.m. will get you moving and stretching. After the exercise class, stay and have a good time playing games on the Wii or try the WiiFit system for some fun exercise. Also, a ping pong table is available for a game of laughter. You can join in afternoon games of canasta, social bridge, pool, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Music night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, May 13 – The women’s pool group and the painting class meet again at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use, too. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added. The pot-luck birthday luncheon starts at 12:00 noon. Bring your food dish or $3/person and participate in the delicious food and great fellowship. Afterwards, stay and play afternoon games which include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch.

Last weeks winners for rubber bridge were: Deloris Sanders, 1st, and Jean Jones, 2nd. Winners of social bridge were: Mia Owens, 1st, and Larry Simmons, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Treca Baer and Norma Burk, 1st; and Murna Raff & Jerry Koelsch , 2nd. Texas Hold’em champions for last week were Bud Moats and Sue Adams. Also, champion in the Texas Hold’em winner’s game was Don Lorett.

Fun and Games at the Senior Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers fun and games galore. Regular center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Monday, May 2 – The doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the women pool players will be waiting to get in to start racking up the pool balls for some fun practice around the tables.
