Activities Inside at Senior Activity Center

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is the place to beat the summer heat and stay cool while playing various games of fun. Regular center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a July calendar of events.

Monday, August 1 – Pool balls will be racked up starting at 9:30 a.m. as the women enjoy a morning of pool. The oil painters will also be gathering and letting their creative juices flow. The afternoon activities begin at 1:00 p.m. and include rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes and much more.

Tuesday, August 2 – Sit ‘n Be Fit free exercise class begins at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, August 3– The women get their pool sticks out again at 9:30 a.m. for a refreshing game of pool. Wii interactive games are also available. Activities for the afternoon begin at 1:00 p.m. These include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, Mexican Train dominoes, and puzzle solving. A men’s in house pool tournament will also be held at 1p. The drama, “Like Dandelion Dust” will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, August 4 – You should check out the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that meets at 9:30 a.m. After the exercise class, Wii games and ping pong is available for some fun. You can join in afternoon games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Music night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, August 5 – Popular cool activities for Friday morning are women’s pool and the painting class. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use, too. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Treca Baer, 1st and Deloris Sanders, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Betty Lowery and Donna Beason 1st; and Don Lorett and Patricia Logan, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Norma Burk, 1st; and Donna Beason, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were Bud Moats and Bobbie Bryan. Two in house pool tournaments were held. For the women winners were Patricia Logan, 1st and Linda Stangl, 2nd. And for the men winners were Ival Hesser, 1st and Dennis Owens, 2nd.
