Birthday Luncheon This Week

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will host a Medicare Part-D enrollment and review, Thursday, November 10 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Need to call Kristi at 1-800-375-8255, Ext. 128 to schedule your appointment. Also, bring you Medicare card and all current prescriptions. Then on Friday, November 11 at 12 noon the November pot-luck birthday luncheon will be held. You can bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person. Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a November calendar of events.

Monday, November 7 – Weekly activities get under way Monday morning at 9:30. The women pool players get out their pool sticks then and begin some friendly competition. Also, at the same time, oil painters get together and enjoy good conversations while getting creative on their canvases. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 8 – Come get toned up and work on your flexibility with the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that begins at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, November 9 –It is pool time again as the women rack up the pool balls starting at 9:30 a.m. Wii interactive games and ping pong are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The animated movie, “Rio”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, November 10 – The Sit’n Be Fit exercise class starts stretching at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. It is an interactive game system that can challenge and improve your balance. At 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. enroll in or review your Medicare Part-D. Call to schedule an appointment. Then at 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. and Music Night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes.

Friday, November 11 –Women’s pool and painting class at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use. Birthday pot-luck lunch begins at 12 noon. Bring a food dish or $3/person and join in the celebration of November birthdays. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Norma Phillips, 1st and Orlean Hunter, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Ina Abels, 1st; and Norma Burk, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Ina Abels and Lorie Schlobahm, 1st; Murna Raff and Jerry Koelsch, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winner for both days last week was: Sue Adams.
