Fun Place to Visit

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center offers a wide variety of fun activities all week long. Come check it out! Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up an October calendar of events.

Monday, October 24 – Women’s pool time at 9:30 a.m. is a good time for the women to practice their pool skills together while exchanging a lot of laughter and friendly competition. Also, at the same time, oil painters join together and get creative with their paints and brushes. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, October 25 – Come join the free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class at the Senior Center beginning at 9:30 a.m. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, October 26–Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for women’s pool playing. Wii interactive games are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The movie, “Soul Surfer”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, October 27 –Get some beneficial stretching and toning of those muscles with the Sit’n Be Fit exercise class that starts at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. It is an interactive game system that can challenge and improve your balance. Then at 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. and Music Night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes.

Friday, October 28 – Pool sticks are out again starting at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use. Afternoon games include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Wally Reynolds, 1st and Mallory Owen, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Janetta Loper, 1st; and Ina Lee Ables, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were Terry Miller and Camille Johnston, 1st; and Charles Foreman and Donna Beason, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Betty Shields and Sue Adams. A coed in-house pool tournament was held and the winner was Larry Leonard.
