December Birthday Lunch on Friday!

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold the December pot-luck luncheon on Friday, December 9 at 12:00 noon. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person. A group from the Community Singers will be here to entertain with some carols. The Center offers many fun activities for seniors 50 and older. Regular Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a December calendar of events.



Senior men enjoyed the in-house pool tournament recently held at the City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center.

Monday, December 5 – The women pool players sharpen their skills at the tables starting at 9:30 a.m. They have a great time and enjoy a lot of laughs, come join the fun. Also, an oil painting class begins then with painters who bring their supplies with them and have a good time together getting creative. Rubber Bridge, canasta, dominoes, puzzle solving, snooker and pool are among the afternoon activities that start at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, December 6 – A free Sit’n Be Fit exercise class meets every Tuesday and Thursday of the week. This class is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, December 7 –The pool balls will be racked up again beginning at 9:30 a.m. by the women pool players. Wii interactive games and ping pong are also available for participation. Afternoon games that usually begin at 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, pool, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and puzzle solving. The comedy romance movie, “Larry Crowne”, will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, December 8 – The Sit’n Be Fit exercise class meets again at 9:30 a.m. for a good stretching and toning workout. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. This is an interactive game system that challenges and can help improve your balance. At 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. where everyone is a winner. Thursday evenings the Center’s doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. for Music Night. The musicians tune up their instruments and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6:00 p.m.

Friday, December 9 – Women’s pool players and painting class participants get together again at 9:30 a.m. There is exercise equipment, Wii games, and a ping pong table all available for use. At 12:00 noon the December pot-luck birthday luncheon will be held. Bring a food dish or pay $3/person and enjoy the delicious food and good fellowship. In the afternoon, games include: canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, and a puzzle is out waiting for someone to find the missing pieces.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Norma Burk, 1st and J.W. Thomas, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Lew Taylor, 1st; and Cloyann Fent and Pauline Poe, tied for 2nd. Duplicate bridge winners were: Betty Abenante and Murna Raff, 1stand Ina Abels and Lorie Schlobahm, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were: Lula Mae Davis and Betty Shields. A men’s in-house pool tournament was held last week and Jack Ventris took the honors of winner.
