Monday, Aug. 22 – You can stay cool while
participating in the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class offered every Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 a.m. Chairs are put out for everyone and a
variety of exercises are done while sitting. Hand weights, stretchy bands and
bouncing balls are incorporated into the routine. Some exercises are also done
while standing, but a chair is always there for support if needed. A group of
women also come in at that time to play some friendly rounds of 8-ball pool.
They have a good time socializing. At 10:30 a.m. after the exercise class, a
line dancing class takes place. They do some good boot scooting to country
tunes. In the afternoon, bridge players arrive around 12:30 a.m. along with
canasta card players and pool/snooker players.
Tuesday, Aug. 23 – It may be hard to stay very
cool in the free “Zumba with Angie” class. It is a fast paced dance/exercise class
done to Latin American music that makes you want to move. It is offered at
10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please wear good sturdy shoes. No slide
on types allowed. In the afternoon, games are played that include; canasta, duplicate
bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise equipment that
includes two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use during the
afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone
wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out, for all the puzzlers.
Wednesday, Aug. 24 – The Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise
class meets up again at 9:30 a.m. Also, women pool players arrive ready to play
some more 8-ball pool games. After the exercise class, at 10:30 a.m. line
dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep time with the swinging tunes.
During the afternoon, games of canasta, and other card games are played.
Thursday, Aug. 25 – The Zumba class is an
extra workout that will probably get you sweating to the jazzy tunes. The class
starts at 10:30 a.m. You must wear good sturdy shoes. Canasta and bridge
players start dealing out their cards at 1:00 p.m. A coed pool tournament will
be held at 1:00 p.m. You are invited to join the fun competition. Bingo has a
guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2:00 p.m. Music night
musicians start tuning up their instruments at 5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they
are ready to entertain the audience with country tunes until 8:30 p.m. Snacks
are brought in by everyone and served during the evening.
Friday,
Aug. 26 – The Center’s doors open at 9:30 a.m. You can be cool and participate
in a free exercise class, women’s pool, or a painting class. Bring your
painting or crafting supplies and share your skills with the class. At 10:30 a.m., after the exercise class is
finished warming up the room, the line dancers get in there and heat it up
again with some high stepping. Afternoon card games will begin around 1:00 p.m.
A puzzle is always out on the table waiting for a piece to be found.
