Stillwater Senior Activity Center Closed for Memorial Day

        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday, May 30 in honor of Memorial Day. Activities will resume on Tuesday, May 31 at 9:30 a.m. The Center offers many fun activities for people 50 years and older. Hours for participation are Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events.

        Monday, May 30 – Center is closed.

        Tuesday, May 31 – A Zumba class meets up at the Center at 10:30 a.m. ready for some fast paced exercise/dance moves. This class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The exercises are done mostly to Latin American dance music. It will give you a good workout. Please wear good sturdy shoes. No slide on types allowed. In the afternoon, games are played that include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise equipment that includes two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize!

        Wednesday, June 1 – A free exercise class called, Sit ‘n Be Fit starts at 9:30 a.m. Also, women pool players start having fun at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m., after the exercise class, line dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep up with swinging country tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta, and other card games are played.

         Thursday, June 2 – Fast moves can be seen in the Zumba class as it gets going at 10:30 a.m. They can work up quite a sweat by the end of the class. Remember to wear good sturdy shoes. Starting around 1:00 p.m. canasta and bridge players start dealing out their cards. A coed pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m. You are invited to join the fun competition. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2:00 p.m. Music night musicians start tuning up at 5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the audience with country tunes until 8:30 p.m. Snacks are brought in by everyone and served during the evening.

         Friday, June 3 – Friday morning activities start off with exercise class, pool playing for women, and a painting class at 9:30 a.m. You can bring your painting or crafting supplies and share your skills with the class. Line dancers start their routines at 10:30 a.m. after the exercise class. Afternoon card games begin around 12:30 p.m. except for duplicate bridge, which begins at 12:15 p.m.  Also, a puzzle is always out on the table waiting for a piece to be found.


         Last weeks reported winners in social bridge were: Sue McMillan, 1st, and Beverly Dale, 2nd. Duplicate bridge players did not play last week. The pool tournament for the week had a three way tie.  Champions were Frank Berry, Jack Ventris, and Larry Leonard.
