Senior Center Closed for Labor Day

        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 1. Activities will resume on Tuesday, September 2 at 9:30 a.m. A coed pool tournament will be played on Tuesday, September 2 at 1:00 p.m. All seniors 50 and over are welcome to participate. You should check out what is going on at your Senior Center. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information. Make sure to pick up a September calendar of events when you stop by. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends.

        Monday, Sept. 1- Center is closed.

        Tuesday, Sept. 2 –You should check out the fun of Wii bowling. It is a popular activity at the Senior Center every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. This is a played on a game system where each player is in control of his own game by holding the hand controller and trying to make strikes just like at a real bowling alley. Exercise equipment that includes a treadmill, two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use, too. In the afternoon, games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Also, at 1:00 p.m. a coed pool tournament will be held. All seniors are invited to come join the fun. Bingo players also meet up on Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone gets a prize!

         Wednesday, Sept. 3 – Starting at 9:30 a.m. things at the Center start hop’in with the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class and women’s pool playing. Then at 10:30 a.m. the line dancers start kicking up their heels to some swinging country tunes. In the afternoon games of canasta and pool are played. An afternoon movie is shown at 2:00 p.m. The movie for this week is a family film, titled, “Home Run.”

         Thursday, Sept. 4 – A fun time with Wii bowling begins at 9:30 a.m. In the afternoon, try a game of canasta, or some pool/snooker playing. At 2:00 p.m. a wild game of bingo takes place. Everyone is a winner. During the evening, starting at 6:00 p.m., musicians tune up their instruments to make some good toe-tappin country music. Come enjoy the music!
  
       Friday, Sept. 5 – Friday mornings are active with exercise class, women’s 8-ball, and a painting/crafting class, all beginning at 9:30 a.m. And at 10:30 a.m. line dancing class members move to the music. After lunch, the cards will be brought out for games of canasta, and pool balls for rounds of pool/snooker.


         Game champions announced for last week were: social bridge winners; Dolly McClary, 1st and Lynn Fent, 2nd.  Duplicate bridge winners were; Patricia Logan and Betty Lowrey, 1st and Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 2nd. Winner of the pool tournament last week was Wayne Vinson. Wii bowling champions for the week were Walt Spaid and Jean Hatcher.
