Seasonal Luncheon Celebration Held at the Stillwater Senior Activity Center

City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will celebrate the upcoming holidays with a special catered luncheon to be held on Friday, November 11 at 12:00 noon. Turkey and all the side trimmings will be served to members of the Senior Center at a price of $2/person. Come enjoy the good food and fellowship. The park outside of the building is a good place to take a stroll before coming inside the Center and checking out all of the various activities that are offered for participants age 50 and over.  Hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events.
Monday, Nov. 7 – The holidays are fast approaching, so you may be thinking about all the extra calories that you will be enjoying. Maybe a free exercise class would be a good thing to think about, also. A free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 a.m. You can get a good workout of stretching and toning exercises. Chairs are used for some of the exercises so you always have something there for support if needed. Bouncing balls, stretchy bands, and sponge balls are all utilized in the 45 minute routine. Also, at 9:30 a.m. women 8-ball pool players get together for some fun competition. They welcome new players to join in the fun. After the exercise class at 10:30 a.m., line-dancers get together to do some boot scootin’ to some country music. In the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. canasta and social bridge players arrive ready to try their hands with the cards, hoping for a win. If you would like to play social bridge and have not played here before, please call the Center ahead of time so the number of places at each table can be arranged. A jig saw puzzle is always out ready for a piece to be found.
Tuesday, Nov. 8 – Don’t forget to vote today! Another exercise class that is offered that will get you an even better workout is the “Zumba with Angie” class. This class meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. It is a quick moving dance/exercise class done to mostly Latin American music. Please wear good sturdy shoes for all the quick stepping. No slide on types allowed. In the afternoon, games played include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Most card games start around 1:00 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. New players of duplicate bridge should call the Center ahead of time to make arrangements. Duplicate bridge is played with a partner. Exercise equipment that includes exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out, for all the puzzlers.
Wednesday, Nov. 9 – Time to exercise again starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class. Women pool players arrive also, ready to have a good time.  After the exercise class, at 10:30 a.m. line dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep time with the swinging tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta and other card games are played.  A coed pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m. You are invited to join the fun competition.
Thursday, Nov. 10 – Bring your guitar and join the free guitar lessons every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. the Zumba class starts moving again to some jazzy tunes. Remember, you must wear good sturdy shoes. Canasta and bridge players start dealing out their cards at 1:00 p.m. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games begin at 2:00 p.m. Music night musicians start tuning up their instruments at 5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the audience with country tunes until 8:30 p.m. Snacks are brought in by everyone and served during the evening.
Friday, Nov. 11 – Friday morning activities begin at 9:30 a.m. and include; the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, women’s pool playing time, and a painting class. Bring your painting or crafting supplies and share your skills with the art class. The Center will really get busy as preparations are made for the seasonal turkey luncheon at 12:00 noon.  There will be no line dancing or duplicate bridge today due to the luncheon. Other card games, including canasta will begin at 2:00 p.m. Stop by the puzzle table and find a piece that is hiding.
