City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will
hold a June birthday celebration for the Center’s participants on Wednesday,
June 29. Cake and ice cream will be served at 2:00 p.m. Come celebrate with
us! If you are 50 and over you should
come and check out the Senior Activity Center. It is a cool place to exercise,
line dance, Zumba, paint, enjoy music; also, to play pool, cards, and bingo. It
is a great place to come and socialize and make new friends. A water aerobics
class is also being offered at the Stillwater Municipal public pool. The
sessions will continue Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. until
July 28. Each session is $2, and is paid at the swimming pool each time you
attend class. Hours for participation at the Senior Center are Monday through
Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings,
6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th

up a calendar of events.
Monday, June 27 – Get a good stretching and
toning workout in the free exercise class, called Sit ‘n Be Fit which is
offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 a.m. Chairs are set up for
everyone, so some exercises are done from your chair and then some are done
while standing by the chair. Women pool players play several rounds of fun
8-ball and exchange good friendly conversations. After the exercise class is
finished, a line dancing class follows up at 10:30 a.m. They get a workout
while doing some fun boot scootin’ around the floor. Canasta card players and
bridge players arrive ready to deal out the cards around 1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 28 – Get ready to Zumba with
Angie at 10:30 a.m. This is a fast paced exercise/dance class offered on Tuesdays
and Thursdays. The exercises are done mostly to Latin American dance music and will
give you a good workout. Please wear good sturdy shoes. No slide on types allowed.
In the afternoon, games are played that include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker,
and jig-saw puzzle solving. Remember the water aerobics class begins today
promptly at 12:15 p.m. Exercise equipment that includes two exercise bikes, and
a weight set are available for use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at
2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig
saw puzzle out for all the puzzlers.
Wednesday, June 29 – Exercisers and women pool
players all come in after the doors open at 9:30 a.m. Later, at 10:30 a.m., after the exercise
class, line dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep up with swinging country
tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta, and other card games are played.
Remember at 2:00 p.m. enjoy some cake and ice cream to celebrate June
birthdays.
Thursday, June 30 – Time to get your Zumba on again
starting at 10:30 a.m. Class members can work up quite a sweat by the end of
the class. Remember to wear good sturdy shoes. Water aerobics class meets at
the public pool at 12:15 p.m. Canasta and bridge players start dealing out
their cards at 1:00 p.m. A coed pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m. You
are invited to join the fun competition. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays
and the exciting games begin at 2:00 p.m. Music night musicians start tuning up
their instruments at 5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the
audience with country tunes until 8:30 p.m. Snacks are brought in by everyone and
served during the evening.
Friday,
July 1 – Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. Exercise class, women’s pool, and a
painting class is held at 9:30 a.m. Bring your painting or crafting supplies
and share your skills with the class. Line dancers start their routines at
10:30 a.m. after the exercise class. Afternoon card games begin around 1:00
p.m. except for duplicate bridge, which begins at 12:15 p.m. Also, a puzzle is
always out on the table waiting for a piece to be found.
Last weeks reported winners in social
bridge were: Sally Simmons, 1st, and Connie Mennem, 2nd.
Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Betty Lowrey and Patricia Logan, 1st,
and Sandy Boepple and Jerry Koelsch, 2nd. The second day of
duplicate bridge, winners were: Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 1st, and Carl
Provence and Lucy Robinson, 2nd.
