City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center is
a cool place to exercise, line dance, Zumba, paint, and enjoy music; also, to
play pool, cards, and bingo. If you are 50 and over you should come and check
out the Senior Activity Center. It is a great place to come and socialize and
make new friends. A water aerobics class is also being offered at the
Stillwater Municipal public pool. The sessions will continue Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. until July 28. Each session is $2, and is
paid at the swimming pool each time you attend class. Hours for participation at
the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music
night is held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is
closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080

Monday, June 20 – A free exercise class,
called Sit ‘n Be Fit is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30
a.m. They love to socialize while getting in shape. Chairs are set up for
everyone, so some exercises are done from your chair and then some are done
while standing by the chair. The exercises give you a good stretching and
toning. Check it out! The women pool players get out their pool sticks after
the doors open. They play several rounds of fun 8-ball and exchange good
friendly conversations. After the exercise class is finished, a line dancing
class follows up at 10:30 a.m. They get a workout while doing some fun boot
scootin’ around the floor. Canasta card players and bridge players arrive ready
to deal out the cards around 1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 21 – A Zumba class meets up at
the Center at 10:30 a.m. ready for some fast paced exercise/dance moves. This
class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The exercises are done
mostly to Latin American dance music. It will give you a good workout. Please
wear good sturdy shoes. No slide on types allowed. In the afternoon, games are
played that include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle
solving. Remember the water aerobics class begins today promptly at 12:15 p.m. Exercise
equipment that includes two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for
use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of
laughs and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out for all
the puzzlers.
Wednesday, June 22 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class
meets up again at 9:30 a.m., as does the women pool players. At 10:30 a.m., after the exercise class, line
dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep up with swinging country
tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta, and other card games are played.
A coed pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m. You are invited to join the
fun competition.
Thursday, June 23 – It is time to Zumba with
Angie again at 10:30 a.m. They can work up quite a sweat by the end of the
class. Remember to wear good sturdy shoes. Water aerobics class meets at the
public pool at 12:15 p.m. Canasta and bridge players start dealing out their
cards at 1:00 p.m. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting games
begin at 2:00 p.m. Music night musicians start tuning up their instruments at
5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the audience with
country tunes until 8:30 p.m. Snacks are brought in by everyone and served
during the evening.
Friday,
June 24 – Activities begin at 9:30 a.m. Exercise class, women’s pool, and a painting class is held at 9:30
a.m. Bring your painting or crafting supplies and share your skills with the
class. Line dancers start their routines at 10:30 a.m. after the exercise
class. Afternoon card games begin around 1:00 p.m. except for duplicate bridge,
which begins at 12:15 p.m. Also, a puzzle is always out on the table waiting
for a piece to be found.
Last weeks reported winners in social
bridge were: Sally Simmons, 1st, and Cindy Smith, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning
partners were: Meg Kletke and Adrienne Hyle, 1st, and Sandy Boepple
and Al Perry, 2nd. The second day of duplicate bridge, winners were:
Carl Provence and Al Perry, 1st, and Terry Miller and Laurie
Schlobohm, 2nd. The pool tournament winner for the week was
Wayne Vinson.
