Fun Activities at the Stillwater Senior Center


        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center participants have a variety of activities to choose from for some summer fun.  Activities consist of cards games including bridge, canasta, pitch, Texas Hold’em, and various others. Also, you can get your exercise in a class or on your own with the available exercise equipment. Practice your shots on the pool and snooker tables, or get creative in the painting/craft class, win prizes playing bingo, and enjoy musical tunes every Thursday during Music night. These activities are available for seniors, 50 and older. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a July calendar of events. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. If you are interested in joining a bridge group, social or duplicate, at the Center, please call the number given to receive information on how to join or leave your name and phone number.

        Monday, July 29 – The women have a pool playing time set up for them at 9:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So, women grab your pool sticks or use one from the Center and join the fun competition and friendly fellowship. Also, a painting/crafting class meets up at the same time. Bring you artist supplies or a craft you are working on and join the group. This is a good social time to exchange ideas and complete a creative project. There is exercise equipment available, also. This includes a treadmill, weight set, and an exercise bike. The afternoon crowd enjoys playing various games of bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool/snooker. A jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.

        Tuesday, July 30 –Join the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class offered at the Center. This class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. These exercises are low impact. Some are done while sitting and others by standing next to your chair utilizing hand weights, stretch bands, and bouncing balls during the 45 minute workout. Afterwards, stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing or Wii games. A ping pong table is available for use. In the afternoon, games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, snooker and jig-saw puzzle solving. A men’s pool tournament will be played at 1:00 p.m. Come join the fun!  A Veteran’s Affairs representative comes in on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paper work you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.

         Wednesday, July 31 – It is women’s pool time again starting at 9:30 a.m.  Also, you could try the Wii interactive games, a game of ping pong, or the exercise equipment.  Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. which include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. The adventure movie, “Jack the Giant Slayer” will be shown at 2:00 p.m.

         Thursday, Aug. 1 – Tone and limber up with the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise group that meets up to get a good workout from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.  After class, Wii games, ping pong, or line dancing are available. Come check it out. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. Join us for some wild bingo games at 2:00 p.m. Thursday evening the doors open back up at 5:30 for a night of country music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

         Friday, Aug. 2 – Women pool players and the artists show up again at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment is available for use, along with a ping pong table or a Wii game system. Afternoon games include: card games, Texas Hold’em, pool, snooker, and dominoes.

         Champions for various games held last week were: social bridge winners; Betty Barefoot, 1st; and Norma Burk, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners; Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 1st; and Terry Miller and Meg Klecke, 2nd. Texas Hold’em champions for the past week were: Chestine Crane, and Jean Hatcher. Frank Berry won the coed pool tournament held recently.
