July Birthday Luncheon this week!

        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a July pot-luck luncheon on Friday, July 13 at 12:00 noon. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person and enjoy the good food and fellowship. Seniors 50 and older are welcome to check out the fun times. An all day defensive driving class will be coming up on Friday, July 27. Call or come by for more information or to sign up. Center hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a July calendar of events.

        Monday, July 9 – Women’s pool time is a good time to come practice you pool shots and partake in some fun laughs. Bring your paint brushes, paints, canvas, and creative ideas and join the painting class starting at 9:30 a.m. Afternoon activities get going around 1:00 p.m. These include; rubber bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool and snooker.

        Tuesday, July 10 – The free 45-minute exercise class, called Sit ‘n Be Fit will get you moving in the right direction. It is held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by your chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. After exercise, some of the participants stay and practice line dancing steps for fun. You are welcome to come kick up your heels with them around 10:30 a.m. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed. A men’s pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m., come join the competition.

         Wednesday, July 11 – The women get out their pool sticks again starting at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a ping pong table are also available for use. Exercise equipment which includes a treadmill, exercise bikes, and a weight machine are available, also. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. The movie, “The Vow” will be shown at 2:00 p.m.

         Thursday, July 12 – The exercisers get together again at 9:30 a.m. in the Sit’n Be Fit class.  It will give you a good 45 minute workout. Afterwards, Wii Fit is available to use. This is an interactive game system that challenges and can help improve your balance. At 1:00 p.m. you can join in games of canasta, dominoes, social bridge, pitch, pool, snooker, and puzzle solving. At 2:00 p.m. bingo is called. Thursday evenings the Center’s doors reopen at 5:30 p.m. for Music Night. The musicians tune up their instruments and start some good ol’ country tunes at 6:00 p.m.

         Friday, July 13 – The women pool players and the painting class come out again at 9:30 a.m.   There is exercise equipment, Wii games, and a ping pong table is available for use, too. At 12:00 noon the July potluck birthday lunch will be held. Bring a food dish to share and join the fun! Afternoon games include: canasta, pool, snooker, pitch, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, and a puzzle with missing pieces.

        Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Treca Baer, 1st; and  Teresa Tanner, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Linda Jamison, 1st and Orlean Hunter, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Betty Abenante and Murna Raff, 1st; and Sarah Kimball and Teresa Baer, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winner of the week was Gail Marroy.            .
