The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center
will have a February Birthday celebration on Wednesday, February 24 at 2:00
p.m. Cake and ice cream will be served to senior participants in celebration.
The trained AARP tax preparers continue their assistance preparing your income taxes,
Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. They will continue their
service clear in to the month of April. No appointments will be taken. It is a
first come first serve basis. You will need to bring your return from last year
if possible, picture identification, social security card, and any income
information as needed. Many activities are offered for participants 50 years
and older. Come check it out! Hours for participation are Monday through
Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings,
6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th
Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick
up a calendar of events.
Monday, February 22 – Monday morning starts
off at 9:30 a.m. with tax help, Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class and women’s pool
playing. The free exercise class will give you a good stretching and flexing of
those muscles. The women pool players have a good time playing several rounds
of 8-ball and they would like for some more players to come and join them every
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. after the
exercise class a line dancing class continues to get some more exercise while
bootscootin’ around the floor. Afternoon brings in card players, bridge games,
and pool or snooker playing. This fun begins around 1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, February 23 – Income tax assistance begins
at 9:30 a.m. after the doors open. “Zumba
with Angie” is a dance exercise class that is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays
at 10:30 a.m. The exercises are done mostly to Latin American dance music. It
will give you a good fun workout. In the afternoon, games are played that include;
canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise
equipment that includes two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for
use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of
laughs and everyone wins a prize!
Wednesday, February 24 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise
class, women’s pool and tax assistance all begin at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30
a.m., after the exercise class, line dancers start kicking up their heels as
they keep up with swinging country tunes. During the afternoon, games of
canasta, and other card games are played. At 2:00 p.m. our February birthday
celebration will get under way with cake and ice cream. Senior participants can
come enjoy the celebration.
Thursday, February 25 – The tax preparers will
be busy starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your taxes in and get them figured free of
charge. Then at 10:30 a.m. the Zumba class starts some fast moving to jazzy
tunes. They can work up quite a sweat by the end of the class. Starting around
1:00 p.m. canasta and bridge players are dealing out their cards. A coed nine
ball pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Come enjoy the fun competition. Bingo
has a guest caller on Thursdays and starts at 2:00 p.m. You should come have
some fun! Music night musicians start tuning up their instruments at 5:30 p.m.
and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the audience with country tunes
until 8:30 p.m. Snacks are served during
the evening.
Friday,
February 26 – Exercisers meet up again along with women pool players at 9:30
a.m. Friday morning. Also, a painting and crafting group get together during
that same time. Bring your painting or crafting supplies and share your skills
with the class. Line dancers start their routines at 10:30 a.m. after the
exercise class. Afternoon card games begin around 12:30 p.m. except for duplicate
bridge, which begins at 12:15 p.m. Also, a puzzle is always out on the table
waiting for a piece to be found.

bridge were: Connie Mennem, 1st, and Bena Harper, 2nd.
Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Al
Perry and Lionel Raff, 1st; and Jerry Koelsch and Sandy Boepple, 2nd.
Champion of the pool tournament was Frank
Berry.
