Stillwater Senior Activity Center will Close for President's Day

        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed Monday, February 15 in honor of President’s Day. Regular activities resume on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. The trained AARP tax preparers continue their assistance preparing your income taxes, Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon all the way until Thursday, April 18. No appointments will be taken. It is a first come first serve basis,. You will need to bring your return from last year if possible, picture identification, social security card, and any income information as needed. Many activities are offered for participants 50 years and older. Come check it out! Hours for participation are Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events.

        Monday, February 15 – The Center is closed.

        Tuesday, February 16 – Tuesday morning activities start at 9:30 a.m. Tax help begins at that time. “Zumba with Angie” is a dance exercise class that is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. The exercises are done mostly to Latin American dance music. It will give you a good fun workout. In the afternoon, games are played that include; canasta, duplicate bridge, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise equipment that includes two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a prize!

        Wednesday, February 17 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, women’s pool and tax assistance all begin at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m., after the exercise class, line dancers start kicking up their heels as they keep up with swinging country tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta, and other card games are played. A coed pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m.  Come enjoy the fun competition.

         Thursday, February 18 – The tax preparers will be busy starting at 9:30 a.m. Bring your taxes in and get them figured free of charge. Then at 10:30 a.m. the Zumba class starts some fast moving to jazzy tunes. They can work up quite a sweat by the end of the class. Starting around 1:00 p.m. canasta and bridge players are dealing out their cards. Pool and snooker tables are available for some fun times. Music night musicians start tuning up their instruments at 5:30 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. they are ready to entertain the audience with country tunes until 8:30 p.m.  Snacks are served during the evening.

         Friday, February 19 – Exercisers meet up again along with women pool players at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. Also, a painting and crafting group get together during that same time. Bring your painting or crafting supplies and share your skills with the class. Line dancers start their routines at 10:30 a.m. after the exercise class. Afternoon card games begin around 12:30 p.m. except for duplicate bridge, which begins at 12:15 p.m. Also, a puzzle is always out on the table waiting for a piece to be found.


         Last weeks reported winners for social bridge were: Beverly Dale, 1st, and Bena Harper, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were:  Bob Henderson and Lionel Raff, 1st; and tied for second were; Norma Burk and Treca Baer; and Carl Provence and Susannaha Williams. The second day of duplicate bridge the winners were: Al Perry and Lionel Raff, 1st; and John and Sandy Boepple, 2nd. Champions in the pool tournaments were Vic Berryman who won the previous week’s nine ball tournament and this last week was Fred Seamans, who won the eight ball tournament.
