The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center
will hold a blood pressure clinic sponsored by May’s Home Call Home Health on
Tuesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. No appointments are needed. The Center also
offers many activities for seniors 50 and over. Stop by 1015 E. 12th
Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information. Make sure to pick up
an April calendar of events when you stop by. Hours are: Monday through Friday,
9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The
facility is closed on weekends.
Monday, April 21 – The women pool players
would like for you to join them in some fun games of 8-ball every Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. You can bring your pool stick or use one from
the Center. An art class also comes in during the same time. They bring their
own supplies and help each other with suggestive ideas as needed. Exercise
equipment that includes a treadmill, two exercise bikes, and a weight set are
available for use, too. The afternoon brings out bridge, canasta players, and
pool shooters.
Tuesday, April 22 – Why not check out the free
Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise program? The Center provides this class every Tuesday
and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. It offers a low impact, 45 minute workout
that helps strengthen and tone up your muscles. Some exercises are done while sitting
and others are done while standing next to your chair utilizing hand weights,
stretch bands, and bouncing balls. Afterwards, stay and practice some boot
scootin’ line dancing. This will get you a really good workout! In the
afternoon, games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, pool/snooker
and jig-saw puzzle solving. Remember at 1:00 p.m. a blood pressure clinic will
be held.
Wednesday, April 23 – The women pool players practice
their pool shots again beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Also, Wii bowling is played on Wednesday morning at the same opening
time. They have a really good time. Come check it out! Then, in the afternoon
games of canasta, Texas Hold’em, pool and snooker are played along with an
afternoon movie, at 2:00 p.m. The movie for this week is a classic Disney movie”
titled, “Mary Poppins.”
Thursday, April 24 – The free exercise class
called Sit ‘n Be Fit offered at the Center at 9:30 a.m. can help you test your
endurance and strengthen your muscles. It will give you a good workout. If you
would like some more exercise, stay after class and join the line dancing group
that meets at 10:30 a.m. They really get to moving and can work up a sweat
while having fun. In the afternoon, get in a game of canasta, dominoes, pool or
snooker. A men’s pool tournament will be held at 1:00 p.m. Men come join the
fun competition. At 2:00 p.m. a wild game of bingo takes place. Everyone is a
winner. Don’t miss out on the fun!
Friday, April 25 – Popular Friday
morning activities are women’s pool playing and painting in the art class.
These begin at 9:30 a.m. Exercise equipment
is also available for use. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. and consist
of; canasta, Texas Hold’em, and pool or snooker.
Game champions announced for the past
week were: social bridge winners; Barbara Geiser, 1st; and Dollie
McClary, 2nd. Duplicate
bridge winners reported: Terry Miller and Camille Johnston were 1st;
Betty Lowrey and Jane Anderson came in 2nd. The popular Wii bowling game participants also
reported some winners; which were Evelyn Smith, high score of 265 and Dennis
Morrow, second high score of 222.
