The City of Stillwater Senior Activity
Center will hold its monthly Birthday Luncheon on Friday, December 13 at 12
noon. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for
more information. While there, make sure to pick up a December calendar of
events. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday,
6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Also,
please remember with the weather changes coming, if the Stillwater Public
Schools are closed the Senior Activity Center will also be closed.
Monday, Dec. 9 – Women pool players are enjoying
several rounds of 8-ball pool every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings
starting at 9:30 a.m. They have a great time and share a lot of laughs
together. Also, an artist’s group comes
in at the same time. They bring in their own supplies and help each other with
ideas and questions they might have about their artwork. Other crafters are
welcome to bring their projects and join the group, also. The Center has an exercise
room with exercise bikes and a weight set for senior use. The afternoon crowd
arrives around 12:30 p.m. to play games of bridge, canasta, dominoes,
pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving.
Tuesday, Dec. 10 – First thing Tuesday
morning, the free exercise class, called Sit ‘n Be Fit gets underway. This
class is offered every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. The exercises
are low impact, and good for strength and flexibility. Some are done while sitting
and others are done by standing next to your chair utilizing hand weights,
stretch bands, and bouncing balls during the 45 minute workout. Afterwards,
stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing. This will get you a really
good workout! In the afternoon, games include;
canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, pool/snooker and jig-saw puzzle
solving.
Wednesday, Dec. 11 – Pool balls are spinning
around the tables again as the women take up their pool sticks again after the
doors open at 9:30 a.m. Also, you could try the Wii interactive games, a game
of ping pong, or exercise equipment. Afternoon
games begin around 1:00 p.m., which include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em,
pitch, and pool/snooker. A puzzle is
always out waiting for someone to find a missing piece. The historical family movie,
“The Watson’s go to Birmingham” will be shown at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday,
Dec. 12 – Work off those calories with the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class.
The class will give you a good stretching of your muscles. If you would like
some more exercise, stay after class and join the line dancing group that meets
at 10:30 a.m. They really get to moving and can work up a sweat while having fun.
In the afternoon, get in a game of canasta, dominoes, pool or snooker. At 2:00
p.m. a wild game of bingo takes place. Everyone is a winner. Don’t miss out on
the fun!
Friday, Dec. 13 – The Center opens at
9:30 a.m. and the women pool players are waiting at the door ready to practice
their pool shots. The painting group is also there with their paints, brushes
and canvases, eager to get creative and exchange ideas. Exercise equipment is
also available for use. Games of canasta, Texas Hold’em, and pool/snooker begin
in the afternoon.
Champions for various games held last week were: social bridge winners; Cindy
Smith, 1st; and Patricia Logan, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning
partners; Lionel Raff and Al Perry, 1st, and Seham El Sherif and
Terry Miller, 2nd. Texas Hold’em champion for the week was: Lula Mae
Davis.
