The City of Stillwater Senior Activity
Center is a fun place to participate in activities such as; card games,
pool/snooker playing, exercise class and exercise equipment, dominoes, bingo,
movies, painting class, and musical entertainment. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or
call 747-8080 for more information on activities offered and make sure to pick
up an April calendar of events. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to
4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is
closed on weekends. A Thursday afternoon social bridge group is trying to start
back up. If you are interested in joining a bridge group, social or duplicate,
at the Center, please call the number given to receive information on how to
join or leave your name and phone number. Also, please take note for this week on
Wednesday, April 24, due to the length of the movie “Lincoln”, it will be shown
at 1:00 p.m. instead of the regular 2:00 p.m.
Monday, April 22 – Monday morning activities
start at 9:30 a.m. These include women’s pool and an art class. The women have
a great time challenging each others shots and the painting class members enjoy
checking out each others art skills. There is exercise equipment available that
includes a treadmill, weight set, and an exercise bike. The afternoon crowd enjoys
playing various games such as: bridge, canasta, dominoes, and pool/snooker. A
jigsaw puzzle table is always set up with a puzzle to solve.
Tuesday, April 23 – Have fun while toning up
in the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class offered at the Center. They meet at
9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. These exercises are low impact. They can
be done while sitting and others by standing next to your chair utilizing hand
weights, stretch bands, and bouncing balls during the 45 minute workout. Afterwards,
stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing or Wii games. A ping pong
table is available for use. In the afternoon, games include; canasta, duplicate
bridge, dominoes, pitch, puzzle solving, snooker or pool. A Veteran’s Affairs
representative comes in on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:45 p.m. to help with any questions
or paper work you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment
is needed.
Wednesday, April 24 – The women pool players
get out their pool sticks again for some exciting competition starting at 9:30
a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a ping pong table are available for use.
Exercise equipment is available, too. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. which
include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is
always out waiting for someone to find a piece. Take note: a special start time
for the dramatic movie, “Lincoln” will be at 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, April 25 – Exercise again with the
Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise group at 9:30 a.m. After
class, you can play some Wii games or ping pong. A group of line dancers
sometimes stay and have a good time stepping in time to the music. At 1:00 p.m.
afternoon games such as: canasta, dominoes, social bridge, and puzzle solving, are
played. Bingo is at 2:00 p.m. Also, at 1:00 p.m. a men’s pool tournament will
be held. Bring your own pool stick or use one of the Centers and join the
competition. Thursday evening the doors open back up at 5:30 p.m. for a night
of music. The musicians get set up and start some good ol’ country tunes at
6:00 p.m. Come tap your toes with everybody!
Friday, April 26 – Pool balls are
dropping again as the women line up their shots beginning at 9:30 a.m. A painting
group meets at 9:30 a.m. to express their ideas on canvas. Bring your art
supplies and ideas and join the class. Exercise
equipment is available for use, along with a ping pong table or Wii. Afternoon
games include: cards, Texas Hold’em, dominoes, pool and snooker.
Last weeks bridge winners were: Dollie McClary, 1st; and Maxine
Morgan, 2nd. The duplicate
bridge winning partners were: Treca Baer and Norma Buck, 1st; and Patricia
Logan and Jerry Koelsch, 2nd. The Texas Hold’em group met and the winners for
the week were: Lula Mae Davis and Darrell Davis.
