Neck and Shoulder Massages at the Stillwater Senior Activity Center

        The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be providing a neck/shoulder massage opportunity by licensed massage therapist, Paul Hirsch on Wednesday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. This will be on a first come first serve basis. Also, the Center will be closed on Thursday, October 18 and Friday, October 19 for floor maintenance. Seniors, 50 and older are welcome to join the Center. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up an October calendar of events. Also, if you are interested in joining a bridge group, social or duplicate, at the Center, please call the number given to receive information on how to join.

        Monday, October 15 – Monday mornings are busy with women’s pool playing and a painting class. These begin at 9:30 a.m. Bring your pool stick or use one from the Center and enjoy some fun competition. The oil/acrylic painters bring their own supplies and exchange creative ideas with each other. Afternoon activities start around 1:00 p.m. which include: bridge, canasta, pool, snooker, dominoes, and puzzle solving.

        Tuesday, October 16 – Come get toned up by joining the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that is offered every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the Center. Chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by your chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. After exercise, some of the participants stay and practice line dancing steps for fun. You are welcome to come kick up your heels with them around 10:30 a.m. Wii games and ping pong are always available for a fun time, too. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Texas Hold’em, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, snooker, pool and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-2:45 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance. No appointment is needed.

         Wednesday, October 17 – The women get out their pool sticks again for some fun practice starting at 9:30 a.m. A Wii interactive game set and a ping pong table are also available for use. Exercise equipment which includes a treadmill, exercise bikes, and a weight machine are available, also. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. which include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a piece. The movie, which was made in Stillwater, “Cowgirls and Angels”, will be shown at 2:00 p.m. This is a long anticipated movie, so come check it out, it should be a good one. Neck/shoulder massages begin at 1:00 p.m. No appointment needed.

         Thursday, October 18 – Center closed for floor maintenance.  

         Friday, October 19 – Center closed for floor maintenance.

        Last weeks winners of bridge were: Deloris Sanders, 1st; and J.W. Thomas, 2nd. Other bridge winners were: Norma Burk, 1st and Lew Taylor, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Seham Sherif and Murna Raff, 1st; and Camille Johnston and Terry Miller, 2nd; Texas Hold’em winners of the week were: Lula Mae Davis and Shirley Crockett. A men’s pool tournament was held and Wayne Vinson was the champion.
