Closed for Labor Day

The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day. The Center will reopen on Tuesday, September 6 at the regular hours: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick up a September calendar of events.

Monday, September 5 – The Center is closed.

Tuesday, September 6 – Do you need to work on your flexibility and strength endurance? Then, come join the Sit ‘n Be Fit free exercise class that begins at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. This is a 45-minute workout where chairs are provided for each person. Some exercises are done while sitting and some are done while standing by a chair. Bouncing balls, hand weights, and stretch bands are incorporated in to the exercises for an extensive workout. Afternoon activities include games such as; duplicate bridge, Mexican Train dominoes, canasta, pitch, Skipbo, puzzle solving, and dominoes. A representative from Veteran’s Affairs comes in on Tuesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to help with any questions or paperwork you may have pertaining to veteran’s assistance.

Wednesday, September 7–The women pool players will have an in-house pool tournament starting at 9:30 a.m. Wii interactive games are also available for participation. Games for the afternoon begin at 1:00 p.m. These include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, Mexican Train dominoes, and puzzle solving. The movie, “The Conspirator”, a historical drama will be shown at 2pm.

Thursday, September 8 –The Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class gets under way at 9:30 a.m. After the exercise class, Wii games and ping pong is available for some fun. You can join in afternoon games of canasta, social bridge, pitch, dominoes, and puzzle solving. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. Music night begins at 6:00 p.m. with some good toe-tappin’ country tunes. Doors reopen at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, September 9 – Popular cool activities for Friday morning are women’s pool and the painting class. Exercise equipment, Wii, or a ping pong table is available for senior use, too. The September birthday pot-luck luncheon will be held at 12:00 noon. Bring a food dish to share or pay $3/person and enjoy the delicious feast. Also, a representative from Air Evac Lifeteam will be here at that time to speak about their services. Stay after lunch and participate in the afternoon games which include; pool, canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, and pitch. There is always a puzzle out that needs pieces added.

Last weeks winners of rubber bridge were: Doris Gass, 1st and Norma Burk, 2nd. Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Betty Lowrey and Laurie Schlobonm, 1st and, Carolyn Schwabe and Sarah Kimbell, 2nd. Social bridge winners were: Jeanne Welch, 1st; and Norma Burk, 2nd. Texas Hold’em winners for last week were; Dollie McClary and Lula Mae Davis.
