The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will hold a defensive driving class on Monday, November 18 from 9:45 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m. An hour lunch break will be taken. The class is sponsored by Safety Training from Meridian Technology Center. Sign-up today! Stop by 1015 E. 12th or call 747-8080 for more information. While there, make sure to pick up a November calendar of events. Hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is closed on weekends

Monday, Nov. 18 – Women get out your pool sticks or use one from the Center and join the women’s pool time at 9:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They have a great time and share a lot of laughs together.  Also, an artist’s group comes in at the same time. They bring in their own supplies and help each other with ideas and questions they might have about their artwork. Other crafters are welcome to bring their projects and join the group, also. The Center has an exercise room with exercise bikes and a weight set for senior use. The defensive driving class will be meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This class could get you a discount on your vehicle insurance, so check with your insurance provider and join the class. The afternoon crowd arrives around 12:30 p.m. to play games of bridge, canasta, dominoes, pool/snooker, and jig-saw puzzle solving.

Tuesday, Nov. 19 – It is time to start thinking about the holidays coming up and the extra calories that will be eaten. The Center has a free exercise class, called Sit ‘n Be Fit that is offered every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. The exercises are low impact, but good for strength and flexibility. Some are done sitting while others are done by standing next to your chair utilizing hand weights, stretch bands, and bouncing balls during the 45 minute workout. Afterwards, stay and practice some boot scootin’ line dancing or Wii games. A ping pong table is also available for use. In the afternoon, games include; canasta, duplicate bridge, dominoes, pitch, pool/snooker and jig-saw puzzle solving.  Please note: the Veteran’s Affairs representative will no longer be coming to the Senior Center. He will now be at Workforce Oklahoma’s Stillwater office at 3006 E. 6th St., from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays only.

Wednesday, Nov. 20 – Pool balls are falling again as the women take aim at the cue ball after the doors open at 9:30 a.m. Also, you could try the Wii interactive games, a game of ping pong, or exercise equipment.  Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m., which include; canasta, dominoes, Texas Hold’em, pitch, and pool/snooker.  A puzzle is always out waiting for someone to find a missing piece. The family drama movie, “The Way Way Back” will be shown at 2:00 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 21 – Start getting in shape now with the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class at 9:30 a.m.  It gives everyone a good 45 minute workout of their muscles. Afternoon games begin around 1:00 p.m. Try a game of canasta or pool/snooker and at 2:00 p.m. join in the fun time of bingo.

Friday, Nov. 22 – The women practice their pool shots at 9:30 a.m. They welcome new players, so come join the friendly competition. Also, the artists meet up again at opening of the center. Exercise equipment is also available for use. Afternoon games include: canasta, Texas Hold’em, and pool/snooker.
