City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center will
celebrate participants January birthdays, Wednesday, January 25 at 2 p.m. Cake
and ice cream will be served so come and enjoy! Many activities are offered for
seniors 50 and over such as; exercise classes, line dancing, Zumba, card and
bridge games, pool and snooker playing including tournaments, bingo, and a
music night with country tunes. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday
through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on Thursday
evenings, 6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th

up a calendar of events.
Monday, Jan. 23 – A free Sit ‘n Be Fit
exercise class starts the morning off at 9:30 a.m. with a toning and muscle
building exercise routine. Chairs are set out for everyone to use for support. Also,
women pool players get together for several rounds of fun and friendly 8-ball.
After the exercise class, at 10:30 a.m. a line dancing class meets and kicks up
their heels to some swinging country tunes. Afternoon games begin around 1 p.m.
with card games: canasta, social bridge, and pool/snooker.
Tuesday, Jan. 24 – Time to “Zumba with Angie”.
This is a free exercise/dance class offered every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30
a.m. You will do some quick moving steps done mostly to Latin American music. Please
wear good sturdy shoes for all the quick stepping. No slide on shoes allowed. In
the afternoon, games played include canasta, duplicate bridge, and pool/snooker.
Most card games start around 1 p.m. except for duplicate bridge which starts at
12:15 p.m. New duplicate bridge players should call the Center ahead of time to
make arrangements. Duplicate bridge is played with a partner. Exercise
equipment that includes exercise bikes, a treadmill, and a weight set are
available for use in the afternoon. A pool tournament will be held starting at
1 p.m. Bring your pool stick or use one from the Center to enjoy your afternoon
and some friendly competition. Bingo is played at 2 p.m. It’s a lot of laughs
and everyone wins a prize! We always have a jig saw puzzle out too, for all the
puzzlers.
Wednesday, Jan. 25 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class
and women’s pool playing begins after the doors open at 9:30 a.m. After the
exercise class at 10:30 a.m., line dancers get moving and stepping as they keep
time with the swinging tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta and other
card games are played starting around 1 p.m. A puzzle is always out ready to be
solved. Remember, cake and ice cream will be served at 2 p.m. to celebrate
January birthdays.
Thursday, Jan. 26 – Guitar lessons continue
at the Center on Thursdays mornings starting at 9:30 a.m. Zumba dancers begin
moving again to some jazzy tunes at 10:30 a.m. The afternoon brings out canasta
and bridge players at 1 p.m. Bingo has a guest caller on Thursdays and the exciting
games begin at 2 p.m. The Center opens back up at 5:30 p.m. to get ready for
Music Night. The musicians get their instruments tuned up and are ready to
entertain the crowd with country tunes starting at 6 p.m. Come enjoy the music
and snacks that participants bring to share.
Friday, Jan. 27 – Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise
class, women’s pool playing, and a painting class all start at 9:30 a.m. The
artists bring in their art projects and supplies and share their ideas and
skills with each other. Afternoon duplicate bridge players arrive at 12:15 p.m.
ready to play some serious cards. Canasta card games start around 1 p.m. The
puzzle table is always waiting for someone to stop by and find a piece to the
puzzle.
Last weeks reported social bridge winners were: Bena
Harper, 1st and Sally Simmons, 2nd. Winning partners in duplicate
bridge were: Al Perry and Lionel Raff, 1st, and Betty Lowrey and
Anna Cooper, 2nd.
