The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center
will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of the Fourth of July. Water
aerobics classes are being offered at the pool for seniors on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, starting promptly at 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The charge is $2 per
session and is paid at the pool each time you come. Classes will run until July
30. Many activities are offered at the Senior Center, which is open for
participants, 50 years old and older, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30
p.m. and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for music night. The facility is
closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th Ave. or call 405-747-8080
for more information and make sure to pick up a calendar of events.
The Walk in the Park event for senior
walkers is still ongoing in Couch Park. Seniors can sign up and log in each
time at the Center. Walk the trail ten times and earn a t-shirt and better
health.
The monthly movie for July will be,
“Black or White”, with Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer, rated PG13. It is a
drama about a grieving widower drawn into a custody battle over his
granddaughter, whom he has helped raise for her entire life. The movie will be
shown, Wednesday, July 8 at 2:00 p.m.
Monday, June 29– Stay cool while getting some
exercise in the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class that takes place on Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. This exercise class incorporates a
good stretching routine using stretchy rubber bands, and rubber or sponge
balls. The women’s pool group have plenty of fun and laughs while playing
several rounds of 8-ball. In the painting class, artists get together and
exchange their ideas and show creativity on canvases. Also, on Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. you can come step in time to
country tunes while line dancing. In the afternoon, games of bridge and canasta
are played along with pool or snooker. At 1:00 p.m. a coed pool tournament will
be held. Bring your pool stick and enjoy the fun competition!
Tuesday, June 30 – Starting at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday
and Thursday mornings you can get a really good workout in a free Zumba class.
This class is done to some high tempo music and is bound to get your heart rate
up. Water aerobics takes place at the City pool at 12:30 p.m. Afternoon games include;
canasta, duplicate bridge, and jig-saw puzzle solving. Exercise equipment that
includes a treadmill, two exercise bikes, and a weight set are available for
use during the afternoon, too. Bingo is played at 2:00 p.m. It is a lot of laughs and everyone wins a
prize!
Wednesday, July 1 – Exercise again with the Sit
‘n Be Fit class at 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
It is not all sitting exercises, but a chair is always there for
support. Or bring your pool stick and shoot some 8-ball during women’s pool
time, also at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30
a.m., after the exercise class, line dancers start kicking up their heels to
some swinging country tunes. During the afternoon, games of canasta and other
card games are played.
Thursday, July 2 – Free guitar lessons are
being given at 9:30 a.m. Then another class that will really get you moving is
Zumba with Angie. It begins at 10:30 a.m. This is a fast paced exercise class
done to jazzy type music. Come check it out and work up a good sweat. Afternoon
games start at 1:00 p.m. Canasta is a popular game of choice. At 2:00 p.m.
every Thursday a guest bingo caller arrives ready to give out prizes. Join the
fun! Don’t forget music night at 6:00 p.m. There is always good toe tapping
music to enjoy!

Last weeks reported winners were: for
social bridge; Beverly Dale was first and Lynn Fent was second. Duplicate bridge winning partners were; Al
Perry and Lionel Raff, came in first; and Bob Henderson, Laurie Schlobohm ,
Camille Johnston and Terry Miller all tied for second place. Winner of the weekly
pool tournament was Wayne Vinson.
