The City of Stillwater Senior Activity Center
will hold a flu shot clinic Wednesday, November 1 from 12 to 2 p.m. Shots will
be provided by Mays Home Call Home Health free of charge when you present your
Medicare insurance card at time of the injection. No appointments will be
taken, it based on a first come first serve. If you are 50 and over, you can
participate and socialize in a variety of activities at the Center such as:
card games, social and duplicate bridge, pool and snooker, exercise classes, line
dancing, Zumba, bingo, a painting class, and an evening of music with country
tunes performed by several musicians. Exercise equipment that includes an
exercise bike, a treadmill, and a weight set are available for use in the
afternoons. Also, a walking trail is located right outside by the Center, in
Couch Park. Regular hours at the Senior Center are Monday through Friday, 9:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and music night is held on the second and fourth Thursday, from
6 to 8:30 p.m. The facility is closed on weekends. Stop by 1015 E. 12th
Ave. or call 405-747-8080 for more information and make sure to pick
up a calendar of events. Please note: music night is not scheduled for this
week.
Monday, October 30 – Test your flexibility while
toning up in the free Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, offered every Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday, at 9:30 a.m. A chair is provided for the sitting
exercises and for support while doing the standing ones. Stretchy bands and
bouncing balls are utilized to test your flexibility and coordination. Women’s
pool time begins at 9:30 a.m., also. They play several rounds of friendly 8-ball
pool and always welcome new players to join them. After the exercise class, at
10:30 a.m. line dancers start boot scootin’ to country songs. They have a lot
of fun, while getting some good exercise. At 1 p.m. canasta, social bridge,
pool, and snooker are played. Also, you can check out the jig saw puzzle table
and test your puzzle skills.
Tuesday, October 31 – If you want to get your
heart beating a little faster you should try the Zumba with Angie exercise/dance
class that is done to fast moving Latin type music. They meet every Tuesday and
Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Good sturdy shoes are required for all the quick
stepping, no backless, slide on types are allowed. Afternoon games include;
duplicate bridge, canasta and pool/snooker. Most cards games begin at 1 p.m.
except for duplicate bridge which starts at 12:15 p.m. Two rounds of bingo are
called at 2 p.m. It is a fun time and everybody wins a prize!
Wednesday, November 1 – Time to exercise
again with the Sit ‘n Be Fit exercisers or shoot some pool with the women pool players
starting at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m., line dancers arrive ready to do some
quick stepping to country tunes. Games of canasta and other card games are played
starting around 1 p.m. along with pool and snooker. A puzzle is always out
ready to be solved. Remember, from 12 to 2 p.m. flu shots will be given.
Thursday, November 2 – Guitar lessons continue
for several students on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m. it is
time to Zumba again. Class members move with Angie and work on their steps to
the Latin American music. The afternoon brings out canasta, bridge and pool
players, at 1 p.m. Exciting games of bingo begin at 2 p.m. Remember, there is
no music night this week.
Friday, November 3 – Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and
the activities begin with a Sit ‘n Be Fit exercise class, women’s 8-ball pool
playing, and a time to try out your artist skills in the painting class. Artists
can bring in their art supplies and get creative and share their ideas with
each other. The painting class time now continues into the afternoon so that it
can accommodate more artists. At 10:30 a.m., line dancers start strolling
across the floor keeping time to the country music. During the afternoon,
duplicate bridge starts at 12:15 p.m. and canasta, pool and snooker playing
begins around 1 p.m. The puzzle table is always waiting for someone to stop by
and find a piece to the puzzle.

were: Cheryll Armstong-Kaukis, 1st; and Sally Simmons, 2nd.
Duplicate bridge winning partners were: Carolyn
Schwabe and Jennie Sneed, 1st; and Bennie Evans and Sandy Boepple, 2nd.
The previous week, duplicate bridge winners were: Terry Miller and Betty
Lowrey, 1st; and John and Sandy Boepple, Carl Provence and Judith
Redman; all tied for 2nd.
